Spring Update
Director Sally Richardson has just recently returned from Indonesia where she was part of the Australia Council for the Arts Arts Leaders residential program. Many wonderful meetings with local artists, managers and producers, site visits to venues and studios offering up exciting future potential for further collaboration.
MEDEA (directed by Sally for Black Swan Theatre Company) closed after a successful sold out season.
Critics loved the production:
**** X-press Magazine ….a one-act play that had it all...It’s a well-directed, excellently choreographed and beautifully presented production.
**** Starfish Magazine ...one of the more memorable productions in the old town for quite a few moons.
**** and1/2 Theatre People …a cleverly directed.. provocative and heartbreaking adaptation of a classic.
ARTS HUB ...Director Sally Richardson, in collaboration with her creative team and commissioning partners Black Swan and WA Youth Theatre Company, has sculpted this work into something that’s clever in detail and gracious in spirit.
Stage Whispers ...This version, a collaboration between Black Swan State Theatre and WA Youth Theatre, celebrates their humanity, innocence and fraternity, and lets us love them, perhaps increasing the tragedy of the original tale.
Out in Perth ...you’ll be left reeling after this heart-stopping performance.
Theatre Travels ... It is an extremely moving piece of theatre, and I am very proud to see a work of its calibre staged in metropolitan Perth.
Sally heads off this month to Taipei, Taiwan to begin a new project with Hsu Yenting celebrating the ten year partnership between Asialink Australia and Taipei Artists Village AIR.
