Samantha Chester

Sam Chester is a theatre maker, movement director, performer and educator based in Perth. As a Movement Director and consultant, she has worked with STC, Belvoir, Griffin, Darlinghurst Theatre,Monkey BAA, NIDA, Link Dance Company, Bell Shakespeare, Barking Gecko, The LastGreat Hunt and most recently Black Swan. A NIDA graduate she has trained with The SITI Company and Mary Overlie and in 2013 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship travelling to Spain, France, UK and Belgium. She was one of the inaugural dance theatre directors with Force Majeure’s program, Cultivate and Culminate and was the Associate Artist for Critical Path. She is the co-founder of creative space Queen Street Studio/Fraser Studios and founder of independent dance space ReadyMade Works. She is currently a Lecturer in Movement and Performance at WAAPA and in the past 5 years created The Astronaut and HIRO:the man who sailed his house for The Blue Room Theatre. JULIA is her second project with Steamworks.
