Joe Lui is a founding member of Renegade Productions and creates, writes, directs, designs and composes theatre and performance works. Works include: Unveiling, a finalist for Blue Room Best Production (2017). Joe is a regular contributing part of the professional and independent theatre industry in Perth as a director, writer, sound and lighting designer. He has worked with most Perth based companies including Black Swan State Theatre Company, Yirra Yaakin Theatre co, Deckchair Theatre and the vast majority of independent companies.

Lighting designs include Black Swan’s Perth Festival production I am My Own Wife and You know We Belong Together, Kynan Hughes Love/Less & NEXT for Move Me Festival. Sound/Lighting Bang Bang! and The Golem at the Blue Room Theatre. His most recent directing work was Unsung Heroes, with BSSTC in 2020. His most recent design work was The Sum of Us by Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company as part of Perth Festival.

Joe has collaborated with Director Sally Richardson on composition and lighting for Standing Bird 2, Mermaid X, FEARLESS, Flesh & Bones (Micromove) and #thatwomanjulia.
